The results of the second tournament of the new season, comes hot off the heels of the Metaforge Open. The first ever Gravon Open U.L. Tournament was a new tournament for 2007 and was a complete success. This contest was a closely fought affair, with new emerging Gravon players going head to head with the more experienced Meta U.L. players. The results went pretty much as expected with the seeding being very accurate. Underground won his 2nd U.L. Tournament of the year, beating Steve 2-0 in the final. Third place went to Skywalker, while atillares claimed forth place

The Metaforge Open was won for the second year running by Underground, who beat mmm3 (2-0) in the final of this tough competition. Steve beat XtraStar in the 3rd / 4th place playoff to take third place. Thanks to everyone who entered. The full results can be found on the 2007 I.U.L.A World Tour results page.

An Official U.L. World Ranking has be created from ALL tournaments played from 01/01/06 onwards. The rankings take into account ALL tournaments that meet the criteria set by the I.U.L.A.

The Official U.L. World Rankings are kept on this site and will be updated after each tournament. The rankings will be viewable from the Rankings page, as well as from the navigation bar. The New Official Ranking will run along side the current U.L. rankings on Metaforge and Gravon. Both of which, can be found via the Rankings page.

NEW for 2007 is an additional tournament which combines all 5 major open tournaments. In additional to the "Official World Rankings", there will be a chance to participate in the I.U.L.A World Tour. Every player would receive points if they finished in the qualifying places in each tournament. The overall point leader at the end of the year, will become the I.U.L.A World Tour Champion.

For EACH of the 5 open  tournaments, there will be points awarded in either of these 3 categories. A, B or C.

A World Championship :  
1st:  20 points  
2nd: 16 points  
3rd: 13 points  
4th: 10 points  
5th:  7 points  
6th:  4 points  

B European Championships and USA Championships :  
1st:  10 points  
2nd:  7 points  
3rd:   5 points  
4th:   3 points  
Winner of each pool, not finishing in the top 4 : 1 point.

C The Gravon Open and The Metaforge Open :  
1st:   10 points
2nd:   7 points  
3rd:    5 points  
4th:     3 points  
5-8th: 1 point  
  

This "New" competition is a fun event which will hopefully encourage more players to play the game at the highest level.

At the end of each year, the player with the most points on the "I.U.L.A World Tour" ranking, will be crowned the World Tour Champion.

An individual Stats page is planned for every player entering an I.U.L.A tournament. This page of statistics will document every players progress through the months and years.

In addition to the Kleier ranking, we are also going to be using a 2nd ranking system. This alternate ranking system will act as a form guide. The primary ranking system will always be the Kleier system.

2007 started with 5 New U.L. Champions. After a very hectic end to 2006, we saw the 3 most prestigious U.L. tournaments in the tournament calendar, being won by 3 different players. There were actually 6 championship titles available........3 junior titles and the 3 senior titles. Here are the winners! The 2006 U.L. World Champion is "Underground" (U.K.)

The Junior U.L. World Champion for 2006 is "Flyers7" (U.S.A.)

The European U.L. Champion for 2006 is "Steve" (France)

The 2006 Junior European U.L. Champion is "Startego999" (U.K.)

The U.S.A. National U.L. Champion for 2006 is "mmm3" (U.S.A.)

The 2006 Junior U.S.A. U.L. Champion is "Flyers7" (U.S.A.)

Hermann Kleier has kindly agreed to allow the I.U.L.A. to use his ranking system to determine the Official World Rankings. The Kleier ranking system is widely regarded as an extremely accurate ranking system and is used by the I.S.F. to determine the "Classic" Stratego world rankings. It is thought to be the best ranking system currently available and we are very pleased and proud to have this ranking system available to us. Many thanks Hermann!
